Beirut Animated festival is biannual festival organized by Metropolis cinema association. For its 5th edition, we were invited to design an entire rebranding and create a communication strategy that will drive people to the festival.
We first asked renowned designer and lettering artist Khajak Apelian, to create a logo that can be dismantled and animated. The entire branding was brought forth by using the geometric shapes that were used to build the logo. We made an animated library made out of stamped shapes, patterns and a set of graphic characters that we later used to create the different variations of posters and communication material.
These characters were also used in 5 promotional videos and festival teasers showing them integrated with live action video within scenes in the city of Beirut.
As part of the festival’s social media communication strategy, we invited renowned animators from the Arab world to take the logo for an animated ride and create bumpers that were widely shared before the festival, creating a huge buzz and a lot of excitement for the event.
